Walkers Point Ward Area Guide

A Day in Walkers Point

Next to Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward, is the hip Walkers Point Neighborhood. Once described as Milwaukee’s up-and-coming neighborhood those days have long passed, because Walkers Point has arrived making it one of the best places to call home if you are looking for an apartment in Milwaukee. Located inside it is sixteen-by-eight blocks you will find everything from historic Cream City brick buildings to modern new developments. Why is the Walkers Point Neighborhood a top destination for people looking for an apartment in Milwaukee?

Let me be your Walkers Point area guide for a day.

People on the go like most apartment renters love living in communities teeming with entertainment options. If you are looking for a quaint coffee shop, brewery, an authentic Mexican eatery, or just a park to kick back and relax at, Walker’s Point has something for you to do.

Begin any day setting yourself up for fun success. The convenience of the many local banks for you to deposit your paycheck or withdraw some cash from BMO Harris, Chase, PNC, US, Independence, Town, or North Shore bank is key in any urban community. If your bank is not on this list no worries, there are loads of ATMs scattered throughout Walkers Point within distance of everyone. Drop off your packages at the United States Postal Service located on 11th Street and check the last box off your to-do list for today.

Scary Fun Things to Do Before Noon

Now that your work is done, you can stroll over to Great Lakes Distillery which was the first one to open after the lift of Prohibition. Using prime sourced ingredients, you will be sure to get a genuine taste of Wisconsin. Once you had your fill, walk yourself down to Hangman Tours and learn about the city’s history that they will not teach you in school. From ghosts to cannibals, to sleazy brothels, you are going to want to have a few drinks before you start this tour!

What’s To Eat Around Here?

Once you have had a few good scares, grab yourself a bite to eat at one of the numerous restaurants located in Walker’s Point. Travel three blocks South and you will find popular restaurant destinations including Café India or Fixture Pizza Pub. Not what you wanted to snack on? Keep those feet moving and hike a little further to Cielito Lindo or Steny’s Tavern & Grill. Want to stay in and create your own culinary masterpiece, then grab groceries from one of a plethora of supermarkets to choose from in the neighborhood. No one says you must stay home though.

Walkers Point Parks

After lunch, it is time to check out one or a couple of Walker Points green space treasures which apartment dwellers love! Parks galore are hidden within the neighborhood, and you will surely find one within reach. Having trouble selecting which one? Well, here are a few favorites. You can sit down, relax, and people-watch at Paliafito Eco-Arts Park or wear your kids out at Walker’s Square Park playground. Not to mention you can bring your dog along, too! Seems like everyone is at the park today. Rent a table from Zocalo Food Park for ninety minutes and sip a cocktail.

Walkers Point Sweet Spots

As your day winds down, you find pleasure in making your way to Johanna’s Cakes & Desserts Café or Purple Door Ice Cream for a sweet post-dinner treat. As the sun sets and the sky looms with a golden cascade of light it is time to make your way towards the Allen-Bradley Clock Tower after all it’s the perfect time of day to get that classic picture of one of Wisconsin’s most historic buildings as the last light of the day meticulously highlights the building canvas. Once it is dark and you have had your fill of the clock tower, walk a block up to Don’s Liquor & Grocery and get your essentials together for the night. Do not rush yourself, Don does not close up shop until midnight, you have plenty of time to make it there.
